Contributors
Eugenia Coker holds a PhD in Linguistics. For several
years, she was the chair in the Department of Linguistics,
Fourah Bay College. She is currently heading a religious
organization in Freetown.
Gbanabom Hallowell has recently published a
collection of poems, My Immigrant Blood. He is the author of
a collection of novellas, The Lust of Cain, and another book
of poetry, Drumbeats of War.
Yema Lucilda Hunter: born in Freetown, Sierra Leone
1943, and attended the Annie Walsh Memorial School and
various institutions in the UK. She is a professional
Medical Librarian and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of
Librarians and Information Professionals of the UK. She was
librarian, WHO Regional Office for Africa in Congo
Brazzaville for ten years after working at the Connaught
Hospital Library for fifteen years. She is the author of two
novels, The Road to Freedom and Bittersweet. She currently
lives in Accra, Ghana.
Brian James was born in Nigeria of Sierra Leonean
parentage, lived in England, the Gambia, and currently in
Sierra Leone. “On the Road to Godiva” is a story by Brian
James that appeared in the anthology, The Book of Voices.
Moses Kainwo
was born in 1955 and is married with two
daughters. He attended the Centennial Secondary School and
later the Methodist Boys' High School. He graduated from
Fourah Bay College with an Honours degree in English
Language and Literature. He is a Methodist Minister but
presently works with World Vision Sierra Leone Programme. He
enjoys reading and writing poetry and has jointly edited an
anthology of Sierra Leonean Poetry entitled Songs that Pour
the Heart.
Alpha Bedoh Kamara works as a journalist in Freetown.
Kosonike Koso-Thomas was recently decorated with the
award of Grand Officer of the Republic of Sierra Leone. An
engineer by profession, Koso-Thomas was vice chancellor of
the University of Sierra Leone. Koso-Thomas is an
established artist and has written a large number of poems
as well as an interesting volume describing the development
of a University during his years as Vice Chancellor.
Kosonike Koso-Thomas is currently Chairman and Managing
Director of Techsult and Co., a firm of International
Consulting Engineers, and an Emeritus Professor. He is the
author Swimming Against the Tide.
Oumar Farouk Sesay born in Masingbi in the Tonkolili
District in the north of the country attended the Magburaka
government secondary school for boys, and later studied
philosophy and political science at Fourah Bay College,
University of Sierra Leone. His poems have appeared in two
anthologies, Songs That Pour the Heart and Lice in the
Lion’s Mane. He now works in the private sector, and is
actively involved in the country’s literary programs.
Mohamed Gibril Sesay grew up in Crojimmy, Eastern
Freetown. He was educated at the Muslim Congress Boy’s
Secondary School and Fourah Bay College. He is currently a
lecturer at Fourah Bay College, and a private consultant.
James Barnard Taylor grew up in Freetown and studied
French, Sociology, and History at Fourah Bay College. He is
currently an information specialist with the United States
Embassy in Freetown.
